Hello, I’m Bill Leask, wrapping up a 46-year career as a geologist, but with an ongoing addiction to taking photographs. Most of my photographs are in natural environments, with a particular focus on looking for details – interesting shapes and colours within a landscape or outdoor scene. Cloud formations, water flowing in streams, waves surging onto rugged coastlines, waves surging onto rocks seen from under the water, rock formations with fascinating shapes or colours, or covered by lichen and moss … these are some of the themes that I intend to showcase here.
At this stage (August 2026), I am still learning how to use Word Press, and will re-publish some of the pages previously presented in an Adobe Portfolio site.
Some of the pages will be selections of photographs taken in 2019, 2023 and 2025 during trips to Europe. As a New Zealander, I am fascinated by the sense of history in Europe; by the compactness and density of buildings in towns and villages (especially in France and Italy); and by the range of colours in rural landscapes (for example the intense yellow of rape fields, and the profusion of brightly coloured wildflowers).
I am delighted to acknowledge my wife Sue as my collaborator and inspiring travel companion.
Most of the photographs have been taken on an Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II. The images here are low-resolution versions, but high-resolution originals are available.
